Welcome to my virtual portfolio! I believe that every one of us is more than just a name on a piece of paper, so this blog was created in the hopes of showing graduate schools and potential employers more about who I really am. Letter of Intent

Dear Reader,

Thank you for taking the time to view my blog. I hope this portfolio gives you another glimpse into my prior accomplishments and future goals. At the very least, you will find out a little bit more about me.

As a recent graduate of The College of New Jersey, I look forward to attending graduate school for Industrial/Organizational Psychology and obtaining an internship in Human Resources. I have the motivation, determination, and necessary skills to work in this ever evolving industry and I am excited to apply everything I have learned in my 16 years of schooling to this field.

I encourage you to view the works I have posted below, as they represent how much I have learned and accomplished during my time in college. I know I still have a lot left to learn and I hope to do so with your help. Thank you for your consideration and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Biography

I graduated in December 2009 with a major in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Public and Mass Communications Minor from The College of New Jersey. The courses I have completed in these areas have given me a strong background in business, psychology, and public communication and have helped me to develop stronger analytical, writing, and public speaking skills. Because I am somewhat of a perfectionist, grades have always been very important to me and I am very proud to have been on the Dean’s List every semester of college. In addition to the necessary coursework, my academic focus has been psychological research. For the past three years, I have worked as a Laboratory Assistant in the Organizational Misbehavior Psychology Research Lab. I work closely with my professor and about ten other lab assistants conducting his research projects and creating my own independent projects. In the past three years, I have researched pro-social rule breaking, feedback seeking behaviors, emotional labor, and psychological entitlement. These accomplishments helped me earn a place in Psi Chi, the Psychology National Honor Society and Golden Key International Honors Society.

In addition to these two organizations, I am an active member of the College Union Board, which plans 90% of the entertainment on campus. I am the Executive Liaison of Habitat for Humanity, where I do volunteer work in Trenton, NJ and raise awareness of homelessness. I am also a member of the TCNJ Ambassador Program, where I get to represent the college and speak to prospective students about my experiences here. In my free time, I love spending time with friends, watching movies, listening to music, and taking pictures. You can view some additional websites of interest on the sidebar. TCNJ believes that students learn as much outside the classroom, if not more, than they do inside a classroom, and I absolutely believe this to be true for me. All of my experiences at TCNJ, academic and social, have taught me the importance of teamwork, determination, and leading by example and have helped me grow into a more independent individual.

Resume

This is a copy of my most recent resume. In addition to earning a Masters degree in Human Resource Management or Industrial/Organizational Psychology, I hope to obtain exciting and relevant work experience in Human Resources, management, or applied research.

Written Work

Below are a few samples of my written work at TCNJ. In all of my classes I have completed assignments on a wide range of topics in many different formats, and I chose to showcase these pieces that I am especially proud of.

Speech Outline
This is an outline from the informative speech I gave in a public speaking class about the transition to digital television. This was the first time I had to write out a presentation rather than rely on notes from a power point.

Psychology Research Paper
This is the research paper from my independent study examining Psychological Entitlement. It is my most professional paper to date, and is in the process of being submitted for publication in a national Psychology journal.

History Research Paper
This is a different kind of research paper, written for my Women in America class, about the unique relationship women have with food. It was the first time a professor had given me free reign to choose a topic of interest, and I was very happy with how it turned out.

Case Study
This is the product of a group assignment, of which I was the head writer. Acting as consultants, we conducted a case study of a small NJ claims firm undergoing organizational change. This project was one of the first times I had hands-on experience in the I/O field.

Presentations

In addition to my written work, I have also compiled many presentations at TCNJ.

First is a flyer that I created as part of a persuasive health campaign urging women to be proactive about breast self-exams.

Below is an academic poster that depicts the results of my independent study on Psychological Entitlement. This poster was presented at the TCNJ Celebration of Student Achievements, and will be shown at any future conferences I attend to present my research.



Below is the presentation I gave on rhetoric for an introductory communications class. This presentation included a definition and description of the concept and discussion questions, in addition to the summary of a related research article.

Just a little extra...

I am by no means an expert photographer, but I love to take pictures of friends, family, and the places I visit to always have a permanent record of the great things I have experienced thus far. The most influential and meaningful trip I have ever taken was to Israel in January 2008, and I believe that a part of myself remained when I left. Here are just a handful of pictures of the beautiful trip that changed my life.
